Saint Mary of the Annunciation School Grade 5 Supply List School Year 2008-2009
Parents: As you may be aware, research has shown that color-coding is an excellent aid to children with any type of organizational issues. For that reason, we will continue to rely on the colors we had previously assigned to each subject. This means we ask that folders and book covers are all of the same color if possible. If you choose to use the cloth covers for textbooks, please be sure to purchase the JUMBO size. The smaller ones have ruined some textbooks. You may choose to cover books in brown bag paper. Please label them.
NO TRAPPER KEEPERS OR ZIPPERED BINDERS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE FALL DUE TO STORAGE LIMITATIONS.
Homeroom supplies: Kleenex (2 boxes), a highlighter, pens (black or blue and red), pencils, 3 X 5 index cards soft pencil case (again a space issue). The required assignment book will be distributed in the fall.
Math: protractor, ruler, purple folder
Science: black folder
Social studies: yellow folder
English: reinforced loose-leaf paper
Religion: a bible to be kept at home for homework assignments, loose-leaf paper
Reading: a 2” binder (NOT a trapper keeper of any sort, just a plain binder)
Spanish: red folder, 3x5 index cards, and 50 5x8 index cards
Careful! Label everything clearly; otherwise they end up unclaimed in the lost and found. Oddly enough, children often will not claim unmarked sweaters, lunch boxes, gym sweatshirts or other belongings. Those items go to the lost and found in the cafeteria for weeks before being given away. I am not sure whether they are too embarrassed or don’t recognize the item after it has spent the afternoon on the closet floor!
HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY SUMMER! WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU IN THE FALL.
