Parent Guild Meeting
Minutes for
April 9, 2008
(meeting held at 8:30 am)
Opening prayer from Mrs. Kelley
Mrs. Kelley:
- Grandparents/Grandfriends Day was a big success! Thank you to
Chairperson Luann DiTullio and her committee. The revised format of the
day, which included performances by the children, was very much enjoyed
by all in attendance. The day was very crowded and additional seating
was needed to accommodate all those watching the performances. A follow
up meeting will be scheduled to review the day.
- The 6th Grade has just
completed the DARE Program. The DARE graduation will be held next
Monday. Three winners of the DARE Essay competition will be invited to
lunch with the police officers who conducted the program. This lunch
includes a drive to lunch in a police cruiser.
- The Yo-Yo man did a presentation at the
school. The children loved the program. The program is presented with a
lot of positive ideas as its background. A NED Zone has been set up in
the schoolyard to provide the children a safe place to play with yoyos
purchased at this show.
- There was a Junior High Dance on Friday,
March 28th.
- The school play “Twinderella” will be
performed this week on April 11th and 12th. An ice
cream social will be held after the performance on Friday night.
- Fr. Henry Cunney celebrated the 9:30
Mass on April 7th at the TV station in Watertown, MA. This
mass was broadcast on the Catholic television station. 27 children from
SMA’s Concert Choir accompanied Fr. Cunney and Mrs. Kelley to this
beautiful chapel to celebrate the mass.
- Harvey Uniforms will be coming to SMA
soon for uniform fittings and orders.
- The May Procession will be held on
Wednesday, May 28th.
- June 6th is the day of the 8th
Grade Graduation.
- June 13th is the last day of
school for grades 1 through 7. Field day will be held this day as well.
- We have two Smartboards at school now.
They are a wonderful tool and various teachers and classrooms are
beginning to utilize them.
- The Terra Nova scores are in. These
are a test of a student’s achievement. The High School Placement Test
(HSPT) results as taken by SMA’s 8th graders are in as well.
This test measures a student’s abilities. On both of these tests, SMA
students have scored well above the average. Further information will be
forthcoming regarding SMA’s performance on these tests.
Joyce Buccheri:
- April school vacation will be here the week of April 21st
through 25th.
- The SMA Sports Banquet will be held on
April 29th at Danversport Yacht Club.
- We are looking for more individuals to
step up to be on the SMA Parent Guild.
- The plans for the celebration of SMA’s
50th Anniversary are underway. Several dates have already
been booked. “Save the Date” cards will be sent out shortly. Volunteers
are needed to help with all of the committees that are required to run
these events.
- The next Parent Guild meeting will be May
14th.
