Parent Guild Meeting Minutes for
September 12, 2007

(meetings held at 8:30 am and 7:00pm)

 

·         Introduction of old and new parents

·         Need to fill position of Secretary for Parent Guild

·         Opening prayer from Mrs. Kelley

Mrs. Kelley:

·         Pray for the Gauthier family who lost their son. New family liaison will outreach to the family.

·         Mrs. McNiff / Mr. Perry are both recovering from surgery. 

·         School Handbook is now on website. Families need to download signature page and turn in to school. (Adobe Reader required – link to download is on school website.)

·         Up-to-date monthly calendar will be sent out each month via communication envelope.

·         Opening of school was smooth. Children are adjusting well. On-line implementation of teacher e-mail addresses and new classroom software is progressing. It will take a little time to get everyone up to speed.

·         Charlotte Stone is no longer with the school band program. Paul Effman will do band presentation for Grades 4-8 on 9/19/07. He works with other area Catholic schools. Band lessons would probably be on Friday afternoons.

·         Mrs. Garrow is the new music teacher for Grades 6-8 (on Fridays). Mrs. Carberry will work 4 days a week.

·         Bus evacuation/fire drills to take place next week.

·         Coyote sited near school. (Letter to parents to be sent out). Whistles will be given to teachers. There is a ban on playing in the area between the school and the Notre Dame Center.

·         6th Grade getting ready for Stone Environmental Camp (October 2 – 5). Coach bus transportation to be provided. Meeting for parents to be held soon.

·         “Challenges of Parenting” meeting recommended. Will be held October 15th at Danversport Yacht Club.
 

Joyce Buccheri:
May present topics of interest at future evening Parent Guild meetings.

·         Kandi Kukas looking for volunteers for Parent Luau and Family Picnic. Luau will be in the auditorium with Chinese food and a cash bar. Picnic will be Sunday 9/16/07 at Endicott Park (12-4). There will be a DJ and “Just for Fun” moon bounce, etc.

·         Linda Woods requests that all lunch money be turned in on Fridays.

·         Cross Country starts today.

·         Mandatory parent athletic meeting on September 27th for all those interested in Basketball and Cheerleading (Grades 5 & up).

·         Candy Bar Bingo is SOLD OUT! (Looking for volunteers to help set up, etc.).

 

Auction:
Cyndi DelGreco is Chairperson.

·         Date of Auction is November 2nd. Hopefully this will be an easier date for parents.

·         Auction package will be sent out next week with donation ideas, etc. There are room  mothers and “adopt - a - family” people out there to help with auction suggestions. This is the school’s BIGGEST fundraiser.

·         Goal is 100% participation by families.

·         Solicitation is going well. 110 donations to date. Ad sales are going well also.

·         $10,000 raffle mailing to go out soon.

·         Need more volunteers!

·         Only two days per week for auction car (Mondays/Fridays). Donation car will begin on September 21.

·         Thank you to “Fired to Perfection” for helping with ceramic projects.

·         Next Auction meeting is September 26th.

 

·         SMA Cards: (Joan Shay)
Buy gift cards through SMA, especially at Christmas.

·         Can access additional forms on school website.

·         Access to over 300 gift cards. Gives money to school (as % back of gift card purchase).   NO extra cost to parents. Buy at face value - quick turnaround.

·         Some gift cards in stock for quick purchase (ex. Stop & Shop). Must pay for all gift cards by check.

·         Issue was discussed regarding sending gift cards home with children since they are equivalent to cash.

 

Calendar Program:

·         Information is coming home this week about program. Parents should send in stubs from calendars for chance to win prizes.

 

CORI Forms:

·         Everyone volunteering in any capacity this year MUST fill out a CORI form in person at the school front office.
